The incumbent teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, develops curriculum, supervises research, fosters academic collaboration, attracts funding, serves on committees, and supports departmental outreach.

 

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess at minimum, a PhD from a recognized university in Economics or a closely related field.

Candidates should also possess: 

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or postgraduate level at a recognized tertiary institution or university
  • At least three (3) years’ teaching experience at the undergraduate level in at least one (1) of the following: 
    • Behavioural Economics
    • Game Theory
    • Consumer Choice Theory
  • A good record of research and publications in reputable, peer reviewed journals
  • Evidence of a defined research agenda with a proven excellent research and publication record in Behavioural Economics, Game Theory, or Consumer Choice Theory 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage: 

  • At least one (1) year teaching experience at the postgraduate level in at least one (1) of the following: 
    • Game Theory
    • Consumer Choice Theory 
  • Experience in the supervision of postgraduate students at the MSc, MPhil and PhD levels
  • Experience in engaging in community outreach activities 

The following would be considered assets: 

  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Experience in course development
  • Experience in online delivery of courses and use of educational technology
  • A proven track record of writing successful grant proposals and securing funding from international funding agencies 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Contributing to the development of the Department’s curriculum
  • Developing new undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Economics
  • Supervising postgraduate research projects and/or theses at the MSc, MPhil and PhD levels
  • Fostering intra/inter Faculty/Campus teaching and research networks
  • Collaborating locally, regionally and internationally with colleagues in research and cocurricular activities
  • Attracting external research and development funding
  • Serving on Committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels
  • Participating in Departmental and Faculty seminars
  • Supporting the outreach profile and engaging in the outreach activities of the Department 

 

Personal Attributes
