The Network Administrator ensures the stable operation of the information systems infrastructure in the network environment.

 

Key and Critical Responsibilities

  • Recommends, installs, configures and maintains Routers, Firewalls, Switches, Servers and UPS Devices.Designs, implements, and maintains a Zero Trust network environment, ensuring "least-privilege" access for all users and devices to protect sensitive Patient Health Information (PHI).
  • Ensures all network events are logged on the system.
  • Manages the security and connectivity of the Internet of Things (IoT) & the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), utilizing VLANs and micro-segmentation to isolate medical devices from the general guest or administrative traffic.
  • Responds to and identifies, isolates and prioritizes the determination and resolution of significant problem events (e.g., router, switch, server, and carrier problems) through the use of network management tools, test equipment and/or the diagnostic capabilities of firewalls, routers and switches.
  • Conducts regular network audits to ensure 100% alignment with the latest health ICT Standards and local data protection regulations, including the management of encryption for data at rest and in transit. 
  • Determines and plans layout for new hardware or modifications to existing layout. 
  • Configures and optimizes secure site-to-site VPNs and SD-WAN architectures to facilitate seamless data flow between on premise servers and cloud-based Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Installs, upgrades and configures network printing, directory structures, user access, security, software, DNS, DHCP and file services. 
  • Administers Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools to mitigate ransomware and advanced persistent threats, including mandatory MFA for all administrative accounts.
  • Installs and configures storage devices and corresponding software, including firmware updates. 
  • Works with vendors to resolve complex network and VOIP problems. 
  • Recommends network solutions for short, medium, and long-range network projects.
  • Anticipates, mitigates, identifies, responds to and resolves issues with network configuration.
  • Orchestrates and documents quarterly failover testing for critical network paths to ensure zero-downtime for life-critical hospital systems. 
  • Monitors network status.
  • Provides tactical and strategic input on overall network planning and related projects.
  • Collaborates closely with all senior ICT Staff to ensure all technical decisions align with patient data security and safety protocols. 
  • Liaises with ISPs and hardware vendors to ensure strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), maintaining maximum uptime for hospital operations.
  • Provides training in system use and access.
  • Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Must have knowledge and practical experience with firewalls (example Fortinet), including configuration, management, and troubleshooting in medium- to large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Must have extensive knowledge and practical experience managing medium - to large-scale virtualized environments, including VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and other enterprise-grade hypervisors.

 

Key Competencies

  • A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management and Computer Engineering. A minimum of five (5) years experience at a supervisory level in the area of ICT, two (2) of which should be as a Network Administrator within a medium-to-large-sized organization operating under high-compliance industry standards.
  • CCNA and MCITP -Enterprise Administrator.
  • Network+ 
  • CompTIA Security+ 
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator will be an asset.
  • CISSP will be an asset.
