The incumbent coordinates Speech-Language Pathology programs, manages the clinical facility, supervises students, maintains stakeholder relationships, and contributes to teaching, research, and university service.

 

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Teach, research and participate in the strategic planning and management of teaching and learning, including curricula development programmes within the Speech-Language Pathology programmes and wider Faculty;
  • Establish and manage the Speech-Language Pathology clinic;
  • Provide clinical supervision to speech-language pathology students;
  • Coordinate the undergraduate and postgraduate Speech-Language Pathology programmes;
  • Maintain complimentary relationships with the various SLP bodies and other stakeholders;
  • Engage and liaise with regional governments and licensing bodies; and
  • Contribute to the life of the University and to advance teaching, research and community outreach.

 

Applicants must hold the following essential qualifications and experience:

  • At minimum, a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related discipline (Audiology, Clinical Linguistics, Special Education) with intimate knowledge of the field of SLP;
  • Experience in curriculum development, patient management, and programme management;
  • Experience working in an academic environment; and
  • Demonstrated scholarly research. 

 

Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:

  • Certificate in university teaching
  • Ability to teach in more than one area of Speech-Language Pathology
  • Administrative and clinical experience within an academic institution
  • Evidence of Curriculum Development (face-to-face and/or distant delivery modes)
  • Scholarly publications in the field of Speech-Language Pathology
  • Ability to effectively interface with key stakeholders in government bodies and other relevant stakeholders within CARICOM
