Reporting to the Director - Business Development Office, the Project Officer will be responsible for identifying and implementing building, renovation and construction projects executed through the Campus Projects Office.

 

The successful candidate will be required to:

Data Analytics and Research 

  • Develop plans for decision-making to improve efficiency across campus, enhance student experiences, and manage risks.
  • Conduct economic and market research relating to student housing, commercial facilities, food services, and utilities.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets.
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions, identifying areas needing improvement in efficiency, productivity, and profitability.

Data Management 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain advanced analytics systems, simplifying complex problems into actionable frameworks.
  • Define and implement data acquisition and integration logic, selecting an appropriate combination of methods and tools within the defined technology stack to ensure optimal scalability and performance of the solution
  • Develop and maintain databases by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources, building scripts to improve flexibility and scalability.
  • Evaluate internal systems for inefficiencies, problems, and inaccuracies, and develop protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data.

Collaboration and Reporting 

  • Create and maintain rich, interactive visualizations and best-practice reports based on data mining, analysis, and visualization.
  • Prepare analysis and recommendations to support decision-making in the Business Development Office.
  • Work directly with departments to gather requirements, provide status updates, and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Represent the department at meetings and discussions as assigned.

Project Management 

  • Manage technical and data analysis for strategic projects, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
  • Assess analytics needs of departmental projects, define KPIs, and deliver insights to decision-makers.
  • Oversee special projects and cross-departmental collaboration, maintaining timelines and providing regular updates.

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Economics, or Statistics
  • Experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques
  • Strong programming experience with frameworks, including XML, JavaScript, and ETL
  • Practical experience in statistical analysis through the use of statistical packages, including Excel, SPSS, and SAS
  • Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Results and team oriented

 

Abilities, Skills and Attributes

  • Three or more years of experience mining data as a data analyst
  • Proven analytics skills, including mining, evaluation, and visualization
  • Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations
  • Strong SQL or Excel skills, with aptitude for learning other analytics tools
