The incumbent teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, develops an active research program, participates in curriculum development, and contributes to university strategic planning and community outreach.

 

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses;
  • Develop an active research programme that includes interdisciplinary collaboration;
  • Participate in the strategic planning and management of teaching and learning, including curricula development programmes within the Department and wider Faculty;
  • Contribute to the life of the University and advance teaching, research and community outreach.

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a PhD in Linguistics;
  • At least five (5) years’ teaching experience at the tertiary level;
  • A record of scholarly research and publications.

 

Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:

  • Certificate in University Teaching;
  • Specialisations: Phonology, Educational Linguistics, Morphology, Semantics, Linguistic Typology and/or English Linguistics;
  • Ability to teach in at least two of the above specialisations;
  • Evidence of application of new technologies in programme delivery and research;
  • Experience supervising MPhil/PhD students;
  • Evidence of prior grant acquisition;
  • Administrative experience within an academic institution;
  • Evidence of curriculum development in face-to-face or distant delivery modes;
  • Evidence of contribution to public service.
