A/C & Refrigeration Technician (SOG/ST 3) - St. Elizabeth Health Services

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the AC Technician will be responsible for performing servicing, maintenance and repairs to the Split AC Units at the various Health Facilities of the Southern Regional Health Authority. Identifies, prioritizes and performs work necessary for the operation, maintenance and repair of the Split AC Units. Provides technical assistance for split AC Units needing major repairs beyond his scope. Attends and participates in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position. 

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification from a recognized institution in Advanced Air Conditioning 
• A minimum of two (2) years’ working experience in the field of Air Conditioning
• Possession of a reliable motor vehicle is an asset 

Specific Knowledge and Required Skills:

• Excellent Knowledge of AC Units and specifications of a variety of AC manufacturers
• In depth knowledge of the new Inverter Technology AC units 
• Ability to perform repairs on AC compressors, replacing fan motors, charging AC systems 
• Excellent planning skills 
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing 
• Possession of the necessary equipment for the servicing, repairs and maintenance of Split AC Units 

Key responsibilities will include:

• Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, charging of AC Units, replacing of capacitors, washing of coils, cleaning of AC vents and replacing circuit boards. 
• Maintains AC Units in functional condition by conducting inspections; replacing parts and components. 
• Verifies AC Units serviceability by conducting test. 
• Maintains AC Units appearance by cleaning vents, washing coils, and painting.
• Maintains AC records by recording service conducted and repairs. 
• Keeps AC Units operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; 
• Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. 
• Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
