Artisan 3 – General (LMO/TS 4) - Western Child And Adolescent Hospital

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Replaces and installs fixtures such as doors, windows, ceiling and floor tiles door locks and shelves 
• Cuts and installs wood, plastic, aluminium, fibreglass, or drywall using tools such as hammers, chisels, saws, drills, and sanders 
• Repairs office furniture such as cupboards, drawers, tables and chairs
• Repairs building leaks; identifies, fills and paints gaps/crevices in various building structures 
• Carries out various painting activities
• Installs and replaces signage, murals, and outdoor furniture as instructed
• Identify and report maintenance and repair works 
• Disposes of waste material from maintenance repairs in the designated area
• Reports equipment malfunctions, repair needs and safety hazards to the Senior Maintenance Officer 
• Constructs and installs partitions, walkways, ramps, platforms and steps
• Assists the Division in carrying out other related maintenance activities;
• Performs other job-related functions so assigned by the Senior Maintenance Officer 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB:

• May be required to work beyond normal working hours, weekends and public holidays from time to time to meet deadlines 
• Work environment may involve working in hazardous areas at times 
• A high-demand work environment with numerous critical deadlines 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

• HEART NVQ-J 2 Certificates in General Construction and Carpentry & Joinery
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar capacity; 

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Good oral and written communication skills 
• Ability to use hand and power tools of various trades skilfully and safely
• Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, drills etc.) 
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings 
• Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times 
• Good physical condition and endurance
