The Assistant Legal Counsel provides advice on central bank operations, drafts legislation and contracts, represents the bank in litigation, and participates in domestic and international regulatory meetings.

 

Core Functions:

  • Provide legal advice on matters arising in connection with the Central Bank's core functions and operations, including reviewing and drafting contracts related to procurement.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting legislation, policies and other legal instruments in association with the Office of the Attorney General, and others.
  • Represent the Central Bank, (with appropriate support where necessary) in any litigation to which the Central Bank is a party.
  • Represent the Central Bank at domestic and international meetings and seminars, such as those related to bank regulatory and anti-money laundering issues.

 

High-level Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Counsel and Attorney-at-Law.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience practicing law, preferably in financial regulation, banking law or a related field.
  • Experience advising on international legal, banking policy matters and enforcement actions within the financial services sector is desirable.
