The Cornwall Regional Hospital, under the Western Regional Health Authority, requires the services of a Deputy Manager, Physiotherapy Services (HPC/PT 5) for the Cornwall Regional Hospital.

 

JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Manager of Physiotherapy Services, the Deputy Manager of Physiotherapy Services has the responsibility to oversee the day-to-day management of the physiotherapy services in the facility and to develop and implement programmes for the expansion of physiotherapy services within the facility. 

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, administers and manages Physiotherapy programme within the facility. Develops and implements operational plans for the service units. 
  • Develops and monitors clinical programmes for lower level Physiotherapists, inclusive of interns and students assigned to the facility. 
  • Implements quality assurance procedures; ensures adherence to quality assurance and safety standards for physiotherapy services. 
  • Monitors adherence to human resources policies and procedures of physiotherapy staff (attendance, punctuality, dress code and deportment). 
  • Prepares work schedule for physiotherapists. 
  • Monitors performance outputs and standards of practice. 
  • Conducts performance appraisals and recommends training and other development programmes for direct reports. 
  • Recommends/ Initiates disciplinary procedures as required. 
  • Develops and maintains orientation programme for newly recruited staff. 

 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Masters Degree in Physical Therapy/ Public Health/ Health Administration. Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy or Diploma in Physical Therapy. Diploma/ Certificate in Administrative Management/Supervisory Management/Public Administration/Health Administration. 
  • Minimum five (5) years as a Physiotherapist and three (3) years in a supervisory role. Licensed with the Council of Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM). 

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Experience in a physical exercise environment. 
  • Proactive work attitude and the ability to work on own initiative. 
  • Knowledge and experience in programme management.
