The Handyman is responsible for performing a wide range of routine maintenance, repair tasks, and general facility support, including basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform general building repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall patching, and minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues such as leaks, clogged drains, faulty fixtures, and minor pipe repairs.
  • Assist with electrical tasks including outlet replacements, lighting repairs, fixture installations, and basic wiring troubleshooting.
  • Support HVAC system maintenance, including filter changes, thermostat checks, cleaning coils, and reporting larger mechanical issues to specialists.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify issues before they escalate.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Install, repair, or replace fixtures, hardware, and equipment as needed.
  • Assemble furniture, shelving, or equipment.
  • Maintain safe and clean work areas at all times.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance schedules across all major building systems.
  • Handle minor landscaping or exterior tasks as needed.
  • Assist during emergencies or urgent facility issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, or building maintenance worker.
  • Working knowledge of general repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC basics.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in a related field is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license (optional, depending on role).
