Health Information Officer

Job Overview:

The incumbent in this position is required to provide support to the Senior Health Information officer in the collection and analysis of statistical data to determine trends in the health status of the nation. The incumbent prepares tables and analytical reports from the data collected. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collects and analyses statistical data on trends in nation’s health status.
• Prepares tables and analytical reports from statistical heath data. 
• Ensures the dissemination of Annual Statistical Reports and other publication or data sets.
• Develops and administers questionnaires and other data collection instruments. 
• Examines correlations and associations between socio demographic characteristics and health status indicators and assesses the factors that affect health status of the population. 
• Engages in field work for health needs assessment. 
• Updates a national database of health statistics. 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to prepare and present complex technical reports in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members
• Ability to analyze and evaluate problems objectively. 
• Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of research and investigative methodology 

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Training:

• A Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology or other related field. 
• Training in the use of statistical software such as S.P.S.S. 

OR 

• Any equivalent combination of training and experience
