Reporting to the Parish Programme Specialist (Vector Control), the incumbent is responsible for the supervision of vector control source reduction activities, investigation of complaints and adulticidal activities.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of Secondary Education 
  • Two CSEC subjects; inclusive of English Language would be an asset 
  • At least one (1) year working experience in vector control 

 

Specific Knowledge Required

  • Vector control inspection 
  • Operation of the Fogging and Mist Blower machines 
  • Mixing of chemicals for vector control 
  • Infection Control 
  • Standard Operating Procedures 
  • Investigation Processes
  • Conducting Surveys 
  • Treatment of Wasp Infestation and Rodent Control 

 

Main Duties

  • Supervises Mosquito source reduction activities, through the inspection of premises (houses, businesses, institutions, open lots, etc.), oiling of drains and stagnant water. 
  • Assists with the erection, monitoring and collection of ovi-position traps. 
  • Performs treatment of wasp infestation at Health Centres and other sites. 
  • Assists in the investigation of reported complaints relating to mosquito nuisances and other vermin. 
  • Assist in rodent control activities, including the baiting of premises. 
  • Assists in dipping exercise for the detection of culex/anopholles ssp. breeding. 
  • Assists with the preparation of material for adulticidal activities.
  • Supervises adulticidal exercise for adult mosquito breeding. 
  • Carries out any other duties related to the control of vector borne diseases that will arise from time to time. 
  • Provides the general public with information on the prevention and treatment of mosquito breeding sites, through face-to-face discussions and distribution of printed materials. 
  • Conducts surveys in specified areas as requested. 
  • Reports to the Parish Programme Specialist (Vector Control) any problems seen that will give rise to the breeding of insects.
  • Performs any other duties as directed by supervision
