Internal Auditor

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will be required to review the operations of the Authority to ensure that performance systems are in accordance with approved policies and regulations. Responsibilities will include the conduct of internal audits to assess the effectiveness of operational and financial controls and systems, business processes, risk management systems and governance processes in order to maintain their effectiveness.

KEY FUNCTIONS

• Conducts independent audits for the Board to review effectiveness of controls, financial records and operations;
• Prepares programmes of audit for review and approval by the Board and Audit Committee of the Board;
• Examines records of the various departments of the Authority to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with the Authority's accounting and administrative procedures;
• Examines and reviews financial, administrative and accounting systems to determine their efficiency and protective value;
• Reviews records relating to assets such as equipment, machines, tools, to determine the degree to which they are used;
• Analyzes data reviewed for evidence of deficiencies in controls, extravagance, fraud or lack of compliance with the Authority's established policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

• Professional Qualification in ACCA, CIMA or CIA
• Degree in Finance, Business would be an asset: Certification in Auditing; Fraud.
• A minimum of seven (7) years post qualification experience in a similar or related job function, two (2) of which should be at managerial level.
• Sound knowledge of Accounting and Financial systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Accounting Software.
