The Senior Producer/Editor conceptualizes, researches, and creates high-quality radio content, overseeing the entire production process to ensure editorial integrity, technical excellence, and alignment with government communication objectives.

 

Job Scope:

Under the supervision of the Radio Manager, the Senior Producer/Editor is responsible for conceptualising, scheduling, recording and editing radio programmes. The incumbent generates ideas, researches and develops content and contacts potential contributors and interviewees. Additionally, the incumbent collaborates with Writers/Producers/Presenters, Studio Technicians and other JIS departments to achieve synergy in delivering the Government's overall communications programme and satisfying customer expectations.

 

Core Functions:

  • Ensures the legality, accuracy, and professional integrity of all broadcast content, including the verification of stories and sources, while preventing the transmission of potentially libellous material.
  • Generates ideas, conducts research, and develops engaging content for radio programmes.
  • Verifies the accuracy and editorial quality of stories and features and approves technical quality prior to broadcast.
  • Reviews and edits scripts before recording. Produces news, feature stories, and documentaries for broadcast.
  • Researches, writes, and produces on-air features and news reports.
  • Plans, coordinates, and organises programming content to align with production objectives.
  • Contacts, schedules, and arranges guest appearances and interviews, as appropriate.
  • Provides creative ideas for regularly scheduled magazine programmes and produces these programmes, as well as special projects.
  • Monitors studio productions and live broadcasts to ensure smooth execution and broadcast quality.
  • Edits and quality-assures all outputs, including news reports, features, and public service announcements.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to Writers/Producers/Presenters and Sound Technicians.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or equivalent qualifications.
  • At least four (4) years' experience in writing, producing, presenting and reporting in the broadcasting industry.

  • Knowledge of editing radio broadcasts.
