The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine wishes to invite suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Lecturer in Oral Surgery.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • The successful candidate must possess at minimum, a Master’s degree from a recognised university, in Oral Surgery or Certificate/Fellowship in Oral Surgery or Certificate/Fellowship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

 

Candidates should also possess:

  • At least three (3) years’ teaching experience in the field of Oral Surgery at the undergraduate level
  • Expertise in Dentoalveolar Surgery 

 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • Prior experience in a hospital environment
  • A good record of research and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals

 

The following would be considered assets:

  • Evidence of prior success in attracting external research and development funding
  • Evidence of programme or project design, development and implementation
  • Expertise in Implantology and Grafting techniques
  • Expertise in Sedation techniques
  • Candidate should be registered or be eligible to be registered with the Dental Council of T&T.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Didactic and Clinical teaching to undergraduate students, postgraduate students and Dental Interns
  • Working closely with staff in the Faculty of Medical Sciences in providing quality leadership in teaching and curriculum development
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research
  • Participating in clinically oriented problem-based learning activities
  • Supporting University assessment and examination activities
  • Conducting impactful research and publications
  • Managing patients in a hospital and outpatient setting
