The Lecturer provides comprehensive dental education and clinical leadership by integrating competency-based supervision, didactic teaching, and high-impact research to advance the Faculty of Medical Sciences' academic and professional standards

 

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess at minimum: 

  • Doctor of Clinical Dentistry, with a focus in Prosthodontics 

OR

  • Master of Science degree in Removable Prosthodontics or Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics 

OR

  • Master in Clinical Dentistry, with a focus on Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics  

 

Candidates should also possess:

  • A DDS, DMD, BDS degree or equivalent degree from an accredited university or tertiary level institution
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in teaching in the field of Pre-Clinical, Clinical or Laboratory Removable Prosthodontic at the undergraduate level
  • A good record of research and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals
  • Proficiency in designing and delivering various types of dental prosthesis
  • Familiarity with digital workflows for removable prosthodontics and newer types of technologies for fabricating dentures 
  • Expertise in at least one (1) of the following areas:
    • Removable Acrylic Dental Prostheses
    • Removable Metal Dental prostheses
    • Removable implant supported Prostheses
    • Oral and Maxillofacial Prosthetics
  • Candidates with demonstrated prior experience in the successful management of patients throughout the denture making process would have an advantage.

 

The following would be considered assets:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Maxillofacial Prosthetics, inclusive of Removable Prosthodontics
  • Certificate or Fellowship in Medical or Dental Education
  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Evidence of prior success in attracting external research and development funding  
  • Candidates should be registered or be eligible to be registered with the Dental Council of Trinidad and Tobago.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate students and dental vocational trainees
  • Working closely with staff in the Faculty of Medical Sciences in providing quality leadership in teaching and curriculum development
  • Undertaking clinical supervision within a competency based framework
  • Participating in clinically oriented problem-based and case-based learning activities
  • Supporting University assessment and examination activities
  • Conducting impactful research and publishing in peer reviewed journal with appropriate discipline based impact factors.
  • Participating in didactic teaching and supervision of Case Based/ Treatment planning presentations of vocational trainees
  • Developing and implementing training programmes for postgraduate students and dental technicians
