Legal Officer

JOB OVERVIEW

The incumbent will be required to provide support to the General Manager, Legal & Regulatory Affairs by assisting in the preparation of briefs for litigation matters, researching laws and regulations, as well as facilitating the implementation requirements of the Freedom of Information Act.

KEY FUNCTIONS

• Conducts research, provides legal opinions and reviews legal documents.
• Liaises with counsel for matters in court.
• Assists in the drafting of pleadings for litigation matters.
• Assists in the monitoring and drafting of contracts.
• Assists in researching case law and statutes for the preparation of opinions.
• Assists in the provision of legal opinions.
• Assists in the review of legislation and bills.
• Attends court as may be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must be a Qualified Attorney at Law, authorized to practice in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar position.
• Excellent research, oral and written skills.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
