The incumbent develops and oversees management, business, and operating plans for Grand Bahama Parks, leads outreach and partnerships, drives revenue through eco-tourism and fundraising, and ensures long-term sustainability.

 

Job Purpose

The Bahamas National Trust is seeking a dynamic Grand Bahama Parks Manager to lead the daily operations and strategic planning of all national parks on Grand Bahama. This role focuses on ensuring operational excellence, driving business development, and promoting eco-tourism, research, and community engagement through innovative partnerships and sustainable initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and monitor General Management Plans, Strategic Planning, Business Plans and Operating Plans, to achieve the goals of Grand Bahama Parks and lead periodic reviews and updates.
  • Plan, develop, and execute community outreach, education, and public relations initiatives in collaboration with other BNT departments and units.
  • Maintain and strengthen relations with the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA), Grand Bahama Development Company (DEVCO), tour operators, Local Government, and other local stakeholders of Grand Bahama Parks.
  • Act as the liaison to Park Advisory Committees and support local fundraising efforts.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to increase park revenues via eco-tourism, events, grants, sponsorships, merchandise, and other innovative streams.
  • Identify, secure and manage strategic partnerships with local, national, and international organizations, including corporate sponsors, tourism partners, conservation organizations, and research institutions.
  • Collaborate with BNT’s Communications and Development teams to design marketing initiatives, visitor packages, and donor engagement campaigns that highlight the parks’ value and drive visitation and support.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of business plans for each park, ensuring alignment with BNT’s Strategic Plan and the long-term sustainability of the parks.
  • Assist with the development of business plans for Grand Bahama Parks and oversee implementation to work towards achieving financial sustainability.
  • Manage parks budget, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with BNT financial protocols.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Business Administration, Hospitality & Tourism Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in protected area management, or equivalent, and 2 years’ experience in business development, revenue generation, or commercial operations, preferably in tourism, hospitality or non-profit conservation.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bahamian environment, tourism market, and sustainable tourism best practices.
  • Proficient computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite, and basic financial reporting tools.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking and community engagement.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and commitment to the mission of the BNT.
