RECEPTIONIST

The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is a semi-autonomous governmental agency whose mission is to develop and promote sustainable tourism in Guyana through collaboration to maximise local socio-economic and conservation outcomes and improve the travellers' experience. We are seeking to fill the position of Receptionist.

We are seeking experienced, motivated, and high- performing professionals to fill the position of Receptionist. Key responsibilities of the Receptionist include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all visitors, callers, and stakeholders, ensuring a professional, courteous, and welcoming experience at all times.
  • Manage incoming calls, emails, and general enquiries, directing them efficiently to the appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to GTA management and staff to enhance office efficiency and service delivery.
  • Assist the Operations and Finance Division with routine administrative tasks, including documentation, procurement support, record-keeping, and basic reporting.
  • Maintain the reception area, ensuring it is organised, presentable, and stocked with relevant informational materials.
  • Coordinate meeting room bookings, visitor logs, and official correspondence as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to foster teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Participate in GTA training programmes and pursue continuous professional development opportunities.

 

Qualifications for the Receptionist position include:

  • Minimum of five (5) CSEC subjects, inclusive of Mathematics and English (or commensurate work experience), with at least one (1) year of experience in hospitality, office administration, customer service, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast- paced office environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a professional demeanour.
  • Track record of reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.
  • Experience working within the tourism or hospitality sector will be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Gmail and Google Docs is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience. Benefits include travel allowance, duty allowance, vacation allowance, and gratuity. 90- day introductory period applies to all new positions.
