Job Purpose

Reporting to CEO the Research Technical and Information Manager is responsible for conducting research and detailed demand-driven analyses to inform policy recommendations and other interventions aimed at providing research derived evidence to inform the development and diversification of the Corporation.

 

Key Responsibilities Areas

Administrative

  • Participates in meetings and workshops on strategic planning and policy issues.
  • Represents the Corporation at meetings, conferences, workshops, and other fora.
  • Keeps current with developments in the research and policy development arenas. This includes research management, research ethics, data manipulation, and the use of appropriate statistical programmes.
  • Maintains a database of relevant research proposals and research projects.
  • Keeps current with developments in policy and issues relating to the Corporation.

Technical 

  • Support the Corporations Business Strategy in identifying and sourcing funds for the company’s Development programmes.
  • Lead, continuously review and improve the Corporation’s Research activities, ensuring staff members have the right and relevant information to make informed decisions.
  • Lead, continuously review and improve the corporation’s Process and Re-engineering activities through advanced econometric, statistics, risk management optimization and other models, ensuring documentation is created for all activities to design systems to run models developed.
  • Conduct and/coordinate research projects
  • Conduct research audits on the Agro Parks & Production Zones and the relevant sections of the company’s operation.
  • Conduct economic analysis, environmental scan, and feasibility assessments
  • Assists with the development of project management plans and schedules for research projects.
  • Coordinate questionnaires / guidance for data collection for internal or external team.
  • Lead/participate in sensitization sessions with key stakeholders. 
  • Develop, manage and maintain relevant databases and portfolios. 
  • Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct policy analyses
  • Develop research proposals for emerging areas within the agricultural and agribusiness sectors and ensure detailed research plans are executed.

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Management Studies, Economics, Statistics, Agricultural Economics, or other related Social Sciences from an accredited tertiary institution
  • Three (3) years working experience in research, statistics, or data analysis
  • Certification or formal training in Risk Management would be an asset.
  • Experience using statistical software, e.g., SPSS, E-views,
