Resident (Medical Officer 2) – Accident & Emergency (HPC/MO 2) - Cornwall Regional Hospital

JOB PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the Senior Resident or Consultant, the Medical Officer (HPC/MO2) contributes to the overall delivery of healthcare services in the hospital in accordance with established policies, guidelines, protocols, and regulations. The Medical Officer (HPC/MO2) performs medical diagnoses, administers treatments, and manages patient care to ensure an appropriate balance in the delivery of care. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patients diagnosed and treated 
• Daily ward rounds and outpatient clinic conducted 
• Appropriate docket notes documented 
• Discharge summaries are written 
• Progress notes and treatment charts updated 
• Clinical management guidelines/ protocols adhered to 
• Disease Surveillance requirements complied with 
• Required quality assurance and risk management activities participated in 
• Standard operating procedures and protocols adhered to 
• Client Complaints Mechanism adhered to 
• Service Level Agreement performance targets met 
• Quality assurance and infection control protocols adhered to 
• Medical Certification for Cause of Death completed 
• Lab results are collected, recorded and managed 
• Meetings, training sessions and conferences attended 
• Individual work and reports prepared and submitted 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION 

• Medical Graduate of an approved Medical School 
• Five (5) years relevant post-registration experience 

OR 

• Two (2) years post-registration experience and an acceptable Post Graduate qualification 

Specify Licensing or Certification necessary for the job 

• Registration with the Medical Council of Jamaica 
• Current Annual Practising Certificate
