Water Wastage Inspector

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspects the Company’s water pipes and fittings in specified areas using best leakage practices including visible detection, step testing, sounding, and report any defects following standard procedures.
• Carryout simple repairs to the Company’s assets, such as (re) fitting stop taps, replacing meters, tightening leaking joints and other similar quick repairs, where applicable.
• Inspect customer pipe work and fittings in specified areas for defects including leakage/ tampering and report any defects following standard procedures.
• Cary out simple repairs to customers pipe work such as tightening fittings on stop taps, refit stop taps that have been disconnected, tighten fittings on meters, etc. as a free service and which do not involve  the use of any new material.
• Identify illegal connections on site from investigations and billing data.
• Report any illegal connections/meter tampering following standard.
• Serve relevant notices on customers for defective pipe work, fittings, tampering and illegal connection.
• Report any change in uses of property from domestic to commercial following standard procedure.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities consistent with the purpose and level of the post.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Craft Certificate in Plumbing
• Two (2) years experience in maintaining water distribution system
