Overview

The Web Officer is responsible for leading the design, development and maintenance of the organization’s websites, ensuring they are functional, secure and aligned with the organization’s communication and engagement goals. This role requires an experienced professional capable of managing web projects, implementing best practices in web security and collaborating effectively across teams and external developers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation, update, and management of website content, including pages, products and multimedia assets such as photography and videos.
  • Develop and enhance complex contact and registration forms to support organizational engagement initiatives.
  • Design and build visually appealing, user-friendly web pages.
  • Oversee website security protocols, including monitoring malware, applying software and plugin updates, and ensuring data encryption and compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and security best practices, particularly in handling eCommerce transactions and user data.
  • Manage website backups, recovery procedures, and vulnerability assessments to ensure site integrity and data protection.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team, external web developers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality web solutions.
  • Lead or participate in special web projects, including eCommerce implementations and interactive features.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, supporting the organization’s digital strategy.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science, Communications, Marketing or a related field, with professional experience in web development.
  • Proven expertise in WordPress, with in-depth knowledge of plugins such as WooCommerce and page builders like Elementor.
  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies.
  • Extensive experience in website security, including SSL, firewalls, encryption, and secure coding practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead web projects from conception through deployment, including security management and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent design sensibility, with a keen eye for aesthetics, usability and accessibility.
  • Ability to conduct regular site backups, implement disaster recovery plans, and respond swiftly to security incidents.
  • Familiarity with WordPress security plugins and tools to monitor potential vulnerabilities.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to lead initiatives and work effectively with external developers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical staff and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a virtual environment and managing multiple priorities independently.
