The incumbent supervises financial institutions, assesses risk and compliance, analyzes financial data, supports examinations, and recommends actions for non-compliance, ensuring regulatory adherence and financial system stability.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct continuous supervision for an assigned portfolio of financial institutions in the Domestic Financial Institutions Unit to:
    • assess their financial and AML/CFT compliance through use of offsite and onsite supervisory tools and engagement with Board and Senior Management; and
    • recommend the appropriate intervention or enforcement measure(s) for non-compliant or troubled institutions.
  • Prepare ongoing risk assessments of assigned electronic money service providers (EMSPs), money transmission businesses (MTBs), credit unions, and commercial banks and draw up and execute risk mitigation programs for the firms’ operations.
  • Prepare critical analysis of assigned registrants’ and/or licensees’ solvency and financial health via review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and other returns, and ongoing analysis of the Stress Testing data of assigned commercial banks’ operations.
  • Assist segment leaders:
    • in the conduct of full and modular onsite examinations of credit unions, EMSPs, MTBs and commercial banks to:
      • determine the safety and soundness of their operations; and
      • to assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines,
    • to report findings of examinations, as required in accordance with established deadlines, and
    • to lay out and prioritize recommendations for the remedy of problems found, as per established format.
  • Record minutes for all meetings of assigned licensees and registrants and provide appropriate and timely briefings [briefing notes] for the meetings.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, banking, finance from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Sound report writing skills.
  • Sound investigation skills.
  • Sound financial analysis skills.
  • Proven ability to assist in examinations [assigned areas] of licensees.
  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.
