The incumbent supports vehicle fleet readiness by performing maintenance, repairs, inspections, logistics, and reporting, ensuring compliance with safety standards and program requirements.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Automobile Mechanic (AM) will be for supporting the Program in the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and any other duties related to maintaining a fully functioning automobile fleet to support the Program requirements.

  • Responsible for tracking and completion of work orders (WO).
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements for a fleet of vehicles
  • Complete safety inspections:  weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual preventive maintenance
  • Vehicle oil changes, belt changes, tune-ups, tire rotation and changes, steering system checks, front-end alignments, brake systems, batteries, electrical, air conditioning, and any other troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs to program vehicles as needed.
  • Operation and drive recovery truck.
  • Hazardous materials (HazMat) storage, handling and disposal.
  • Logistics support (including maintaining inventory of spare parts, equipment and consumables), purchase request and warehousing procedures.
  • Vehicle operations.
  • Participate in equipment inventories.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on tactical vehicle maintenance projects for Program leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Program leadership.

The AM shall be available within 2 hours to meet on the installation with Government personnel to discuss problem areas.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tactical vehicle maintenance duties at the operational command level
  • Ability to function in an office setting, answer the phone, use office equipment, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and be capable of adjusting to the communication style appropriate for the audience
  • Ability to listen and understand supported unit requirements
  • Knowledgeable about and have experience with the military decision-making process
  • Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid US or local driver's license and US passport
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. 
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment as required
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide)

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience providing excellent customer service in supporting contract responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules and under pressure of deadlines while maintaining performance standards

 

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

 

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this environment. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
