Civil Engineer

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of three (3) years post graduate experience in civil engineering with knowledge of bridge design, retaining structures, and other civil engineering structures including road construction

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Training in civil engineering
• Basic project planning and management skills
• Working knowledge of contract management skills
• Competence in designing and interpreting engineering drawing, briefs and diagrams
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
• Competence in computer applications

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

• Reports to: Senior Engineer

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:

• Inspect on the conditions of existing bridges and buildings
• Retaining and containing structures to assist in the maintenance of these structures
• Preparation of basic structural designs, working drawings and specifications
• Execution of designs Assist in the review of work done by consultants
• Conduct site visits for the setting up of programmes and construction monitoring
• Supervision during construction for all such structures under the NWA Attend meetings as statutory obligations with other government agencies.
• Participate in tender review and preparation of report to NWA procurement committee
