This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join an outstanding and ambitious founding team at King's College School, The Bahamas, Inspired's premium school on the island paradise of The Bahamas, which continues to grow following its opening in August 2022, and which will inaugurate its boarding house in August 2025.

We seek an exceptional Computing Teacher with a passion for education, dedication, creativity, and outstanding experience from the best schools worldwide. We are looking for someone who can teach either Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3 OR Key stages 3 and 4. Please make it clear in your application which is your preference. Our current Computing Teacher will then pick up the other.  

This role will commence in August 2025.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating Engaging Lessons: Plan and deliver lessons that inspire and challenge all students and are in line with the school's curriculum, policies, and external assessment requirements. You will individualise and differentiate learning, ensuring each student is stretched, supported, and makes outstanding progress.
  • Supporting and Assessing Progress: Regularly assess students' in-class and at-home learning, providing targeted feedback to drive progress and ensure all students are challenged and supported in reaching their potential.
  • Building a Positive Learning Environment: Establish a classroom and school environment where students are invested in each other's flourishing, feel valued and supported, and are ready to take risks in their learning.
  • Collaborating and Sharing Best Practices: Work closely with colleagues as an active member of our learning community, sharing best practices, collaborating with colleagues, and dedicating yourself to your own professional development to ensure the highest standard of education for our students.
  • Contributing to School Life: Play an active role in the school's co-curricular programme, helping to create a well-rounded, enriching educational experience. From leading clubs to contributing to whole school initiatives, you will help shape the broader life of the school.
  • Collaborating with Parents: Maintain open and constructive communication with parents, building strong partnerships that support students' progress so that each child feels like an individual, well-known and respected.
  • Leading the Department: Oversee the department, ensuring a high standard of teaching and learning, and driving innovation in curriculum development to ensure it meets both internal standards and external assessment requirements.
  • Mentoring and Developing Staff: Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to department colleagues, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Strategic Planning and Management: Lead the strategic direction of the department, managing resources efficiently, and ensuring alignment with the school's academic goals and broader vision.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine passion for education, with the ability to engage, motivate, and positively impact young people.
  • A proven track record of excellence in personal, academic, and professional achievements.
  • In-depth expertise in and passion for their subject and the ability to inspire students and support outstanding progress.
  • Expertise in assessing student progress, providing targeted feedback, and enhancing student performance, including in external assessments.
  • Experience in providing pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing, with a strong focus on individual attention and high standards of welfare.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively with colleagues and independently and a track record of establishing strong, positive relationships with families.
  • A commitment to their own continuous professional development.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage a department, ensuring excellence in teaching and student outcomes.
  • Experience in curriculum development and department planning, with a track record of innovation and successful implementation.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, able to plan and prioritise a varied workload, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent, with excellent academic credentials and, ideally, evidence of post-graduate study.
  • Experience of boarding is a plus.
