Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervision of technical functions of Haematology Unit
  • Responsible for quality assurance within Haematology Unit
  • Assist with the writing and maintenance of appropriate departmental policies and procedures and ensures continued compliance with Joint Commission International Accreditation and Canada Accreditation requirements
  • Assist with quality improvement practices, and outcome measurements. Monitor such activities through regular audits and reviews
  • Prepare and provide associated general and statistical reports as required by the Department of Pathology
  • Liaises with the Chief of Pathology to ensure accountability and acceptable turn-around-times for all inpatient/outpatient studies
  • Utilizes Quality Improvement data to improve the quality of services to the clients, both internal and external, of the Department
  • Attend internal and external committees as assigned by the Chief of Pathology.
  • In accordance with any agreement or working relationship between the Bermuda Hospitals Board and other organizations (including Government Departments such as the Police Service, Coroner’s Office, the DPP’s Office and the Red Cross) provides advice and assistance appropriate to the specialty

 

Qualifications & Registration required:

  • Minimum Education DM, FRC Path or equivalent Pathology and Hematologic Pathology
  • Must be eligible for registration with Bermuda Medical Council and eligible for hospital privileges
  • Minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience Hematology & Blood Transfusion
  • Maintain Specialist qualification where qualified
