The incumbent oversees and coordinates island-wide Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, liaises with agencies, monitors program impact, develops improvement projects, trains health workers, and promotes mental health through public education.

 

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the development of adequate child & adolescent mental health services nationally, for clients from birth to eighteen years and to promote the development of preventative programs conducive to the acquisition of good mental health in children & adolescents.

 

KEY OUTPUT

  • Strategic & operational plans developed;
  • Norms, standards & procedures established and adhered to;
  • Technical advice facilitated (referral point for technical problems);
  • Provision of adequate treatment for clients with emotional & behavioral problems;
  • Data collected & analyzed;

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  •  Liaises with key governmental & non-governmental agencies;
  • Manage & coordinates all aspects of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services in the public sector island wide;
  • Monitors & evaluates service delivery for the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, including the impact of the programme on society;
  • Develops special projects to strengthen the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services in terms of resources, efficiency
  • Plans & provides training for health workers within the public sector;
  • Promotes good Child & Adolescent Mental Health through public education, behavioral & lifestyle change

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical School, management training
  • Postgraduate qualification in a specialty plus seven (7) years progressive and responsible experience with the specialty. Plus Peer Approval duly signed by relevant personnel.
