Female Hospital Attendant-Dietary (HSC/HS 1) - Lionel Town Hospital

Qualifications and Experience:

• Completion of Secondary Education 
• HEART/NSTA Level 1 Certificate in Commercial Food Preparation or equivalent qualification from an approved institution. 
• At least one (1) year experience in quantity food production and service.
• Food Handlers Permit 

Specific Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Working knowledge of established hygiene standards. 
• Ability to work effectively in a team. 
• Care and Use of Food Service. 
• Knowledge of Equipment and Kitchen Utensils. 
• Knowledge of Kitchen Safety and Health Regulations. 
• Knowledge of Infection Control. 
• Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written. 
• Ability to respect patient confidentiality. 

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the cook with preparations such as washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and meats, and peeling provisions. 
• Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards.
• Placing food on serving counter or meal assembly line during meal hours.
• Receiving, checking, and keeping inventory of kitchen equipment. 
• Washing cooking utensils and cookware, etc. 
• Sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the kitchen, including stoves, cupboards, and countertops. 
• Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor. 

Special conditions associated with the job:

• Normal hospital environment working in a Dietary Department. 
• Required to work on a shift basis; maybe required to work overtime. 
• Excessive standing and high temperature environment associated with regular duties.
