The Hospital Attendant (Male) is responsible for transporting patients, sundries, supplies and other items around the hospital.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients by wheelchair and stretchers to areas around the hospital
  • Delivery of linen, drugs, mail, medical gasses and other items to the wards and other areas of the hospital 
  • Lift and support patients who are unable to walk 
  • Provide support to ambulatory patients 
  • Assist with ambulance duties as required 
  • Cleaning of wheelchairs, stretchers and trolleys and scrubbing of the corridors and hospital building as required 

 

Special Conditions Associated with the Job:

  • Lifting & moving patients 
  • Pushing 
  • Pulling 

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • School Leaving Certificate 
  • Two (2) years of experience in a similar capacity 

 

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Good mental & physical health 
  • Proactive work attitude and good interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work on own initiative
