The MYP and DP Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Mathematics to students in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

 

Position Overview

This role requires a deep understanding of both the MYP and DP frameworks, with a focus on inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world applications. The teacher will foster a passion for mathematics, inspiring students to achieve outstanding academic results and preparing them for external assessments.

 

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required).
  • Teaching certification and relevant credentials.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level, with experience in the IB MYP and DP preferred.
  • Expertise in teaching both MYP and DP mathematics with a focus on inquiry and conceptual understanding.
  • Experience in teaching IB DP Mathematics: analysis and approaches courses.
  • Experience preparing students for external examinations (DP assessments, MYP e-Assessments) and fostering academic success.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for mathematics and a commitment to inspiring students to excel.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction and Curriculum Delivery: Deliver engaging and rigorous mathematics lessons for MYP and DP students that are aligned with the IB philosophy and emphasise inquiry, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills.
  • Student Engagement and Support: Create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and student-led inquiry. Provide personalised support to help all students reach their potential.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative methods, providing targeted feedback to enhance student performance. Prepare students for IB external assessments, ensuring their success in final exams.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Head of the Maths Department to develop and refine the mathematics curriculum. Design innovative units that integrate interdisciplinary themes and connect mathematical concepts to real-world contexts.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment. Implement effective classroom management strategies that align with school policies and the IB learner profile.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with colleagues across subject areas and grade levels to foster interdisciplinary connections. Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest teaching practices, particularly in IB MYP and DP mathematics instruction. Participate in school-based initiatives and contribute to the academic program's overall success.
