Under the general direction of the Parish/Programme Specialist (Vector Control), the incumbent will be responsible for safeguarding public health and mitigating vector borne diseases through vector control source reduction activities.

 

Required Qualification & Experience:

  • 4 subjects at the GCE, CXC OR CSEC level (Including English Language) 
  • At least one (1) year experience in vector control 

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Operation of the Fogging and Mist-blower machine 
  • Mixing of chemicals for vector control 

 

Key responsibilities will include but not limited:

  • Conduct entomological surveys to include the collection of samples: larvae, pupae, and adult mosquito samples; 
  • Mapping of mosquito breeding sites by specie, level of infestation, distribution and recommend appropriate intervention 
  • Regular inspection of premises for active or potential breeding sites to include high-risk premises
  • Assist in the investigation of complaints relating to mosquitoes and other vectors of public health significance 
  • Assist in fogging exercise for adult mosquito breeding 
  • Distributing Information Education & Communication (IEC) materials as required
  • Initiating surveys in specified areas as requested 
  • Carry out any other duties related to the control of vector borne diseases that will arise from time to time.
