This position is responsible to interpret and translate scientific and medical decisions relating to nutrition and health in resolving nutrition problems and concerns of patients throughout the lifecycle. Manages the administrative dietetics services

 

 

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from accredited institution
  • One (1) year supervised Internship Programme in Dietetics/Nutrition. 
  • Dietetics Internship Certificate 
  • Registration with Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine. 
  • At least three (3) years working experience in clinical dietetics 
  • Membership in Professional Organization e.g. CANDI, ADA, BDA, JANDI 

 PLUS 

  • Supervisory Management training is definitely an asset. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the Science of Human, Nutritional Care. 
  • Knowledge of Clinical Nutrition Services. 
  • Knowledge of Nutrition care for population groups across the life span. 
  • Knowledge of Food Service Systems Management. 
  • Ability to develop and implement transition of feeding plans from the inpatient to home setting.
  • Ability to supervise professional staff. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with multiple stakeholders across clinical and non-clinical services.
  • Demonstrate evidence of and commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrate a level of competency in ICT, training, and presentation skills relevant to the position.
  • Excellent Time Management skills. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills. 
  • Good conflict resolution skills. 

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the operations of the Department of Dietetics, including food service and clinical nutrition. 
  • Supervising assistant dietitians, and support staff; coordinate training, performance appraisals, and staff development. 
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring a plan of care, based on assessment of the patients’ nutritional needs. 
  • Liaising with the medical/nursing teams, allied health professionals and other members of hospital staff in planning the nutritional care of patients. 
  • Developing and implementing protocols and individual nutritional care plans based on best practice for patients across the units. 
  • Initiating/facilitating/participating in multidisciplinary continuous quality improvement initiatives which will enhance the nutritional standard of care to patients. 
  • Monitoring and evaluating the outcome of nutrition care for individual client/patient, and document in the medical record.
  • Informing health care teams about laws, regulations and guidelines related to dietetic/nutrition care. 
  • Participating in the procedures of the Quality Assurance Programme, including collection and analysis of data, feedback and corrective action. 
  • Maintaining systems to contain cost, example (allocation of time, food supplies, personnel), while preserving quality. 
  • Ensuring that policies and procedures of the institution relating to infant and young child feeding are practiced including the code for marketing of Breastfeeding Substitutes.
