LECTURER/ SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOGRAPHY

Department of Geography and Geology

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Develop and deliver courses and conduct research at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Geomorphology, Physical Geography, and Geosciences;
  • Develop a research programme within at least one of the mentioned specializations;
  • Supervise student research projects and dissertations at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • Perform departmental administrative tasks as required;
  • Develop and implement fieldwork programs that enhance practical learning experiences;
  • Participate in curriculum development and contribute to departmental activities.

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Applicants should have a PhD in Geomorphology, Physical Geography, Geosciences or a closely
  • Preference will be given to candidates with at least five (5) years’ teaching experience at the tertiary level.

 

Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:

  • Certificate in University Teaching;
  • Demonstrated record of high quality teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • Experience supervising graduate students;
  • Expertise in GIS and Remote Sensing;
  • Evidence of prior grant acquisition;
  • Administrative experience within an Academic Institution;
  • Evidence of curriculum development (face to face and distance delivery modes);
  • Evidence of contribution to the public service OR field of study.
