Background

The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) is seeking a skilled and proactive Part-Time Webmaster with Graphic Design Experience to support the continued development and optimization of its institutional website. This individual will work closely with the PR & Marketing Department and other internal stakeholders to ensure the BTVI website is visually aligned with our rebranding efforts, technically sound, user-friendly, and strategically integrated with the institute’s academic and administrative platforms. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about using design and technology to improve user experience and support enrollment, communication, and engagement across campuses.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage the ongoing development and maintenance of BTVI’s WordPress-based website.
  • Implement visual and structural updates in alignment with BTVI’s evolving brand identity and rebranding strategy.
  • Design on-brand assets such as banners, icons, infographics, and digital flyers for web and institutional use.
  • Enhance the functionality of the website by integrating key student and administrative tools (e.g., survey forms, document uploads, event registration).
  • Liaise with internal departments and Family Island campuses to assess needs and incorporate essential features into the website.
  • Review and improve the website’s usability, navigation, accessibility, and responsiveness across devices.
  • Make strategic recommendations for content organization, layout, and user interface improvements.
  • Ensure the website is optimized for visibility on search engines (SEO), including metadata, keywording, and speed optimization.
  • Provide basic analytics reporting and suggestions for increasing site engagement and performance.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing and maintaining WordPress websites.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with web development basics (HTML, CSS; JavaScript is a plus).
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and tools (e.g., Yoast, Google Search Console).
  • Strong eye for design, attention to detail, and ability to uphold brand consistency.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and translating institutional needs into effective web solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

To Apply:

  • Resume outlining relevant experience in website management, graphic design, and platform integration.
  • Portfolio showcasing:
    • At least two WordPress websites you have developed or maintained, highlighting specific contributions (design, structure, integrations, etc.).
    • A minimum of five graphic design samples, including banners, flyers, icons, or other visual assets—preferably created for institutional or professional use.
  • Cover Letter (max 1 page) describing your approach to website optimization, user experience, and aligning design work with brand identity.
  • Confirmation of proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and InDesign, as these tools are required for ongoing design needs at BTVI.

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a brief practical task to demonstrate technical ability and design sensibility.
