Under the direction of the Manager, Payroll the incumbent researches, prepares refund contribution and other statutory confirmation letters and, maintains the salaries cash book.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • NHT, NIS, income tax and pension matters researched 
  • Refund/confirmation and other letters prepared 
  • Maintains the salaries bank account cash book 
  • Records cheque transactions and lodgements 
  • Balances the statutory payments made by Accountant General 
  • Prepare P24 per request 
  • Prepares monthly and annual statutory returns 
  • Liaises with internal/external customers and provide relevant information 
  • Assists with the notation on salary cards 
  • Assist with the delivery packaging for salary deductions 
  • Prepares payroll reports 
  • Prepares P24 per request 
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

 

Performance Standards:

  • All relevant applications are processed in accordance with the established guidelines;
  • Medical examination is arranged for newly recruited staff members in accordance with the regulations; 
  • Health coverage is arranged for staff according to the guidelines and the cards distributed within the stipulated time; 
  • Service Records prepared and maintained in keeping with the established guidelines;
  • Human Resource Executive Committee (HREC) submissions are prepared and submitted in keeping with the established standards; 
  • Advisory to staff and other stakeholder are prepared and submitted in accordance with the guidelines; 
  • Accurate, comprehensive reports are prepared as stipulated and submitted by the due date.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Qualifications and Experience 

  • AAT Level 2 
  • ACCA-CAT Level B/Level 2 
  • NVQJ Level 2, Accounting; 
  • Certificate in Accounting from an accredited University; 
  • Completion of second year of the BSc. Degree in Accounting/Management Studies with Accounting or BBA Degree at an accredited University; 
  • ASc. Degree in Business Studies/ Business Administration/Management Studies; 
  • ASc. Degree in Accounting from the Management Institute for National Development (MIND); or
  • Certificate in Government Accounting Level 2 

Continuous Professional Development 

  • Attend relevant training on emerging trends and practices within the customer services field.
  • Network within the profession and relevant associations to keep abreast with the industry. 

 

Authority:

  • Access staff’s confidential information; 
  • Make amendments to leave application. 

 

Specific Conditions associated with the job

  • Work will be conducted in an office outfitted with standard office equipment and specialized software.
  • The environment is fast paced with on-going interactions with critical stakeholders and meeting tight deadlines which will result in high degrees of pressure, on occasions. 
  • May be required to travel locally and overseas to attend conferences, seminars and meetings.
