Psychology Assistant

Key responsibilities include:

• providing clinical observation, which may also include: structured interviews, and assessment of risk and safety of identified service users
• engaging in regular clinical supervision and psychological testing/assessment according to BHB guidelines and doctorate or academic program requirements
• liaising with other health or social care agencies that support the care of clients
• assisting with the preparation of psychological assessments of clinical problems and support the delivery of care plans
• participating in supervised individual and group therapy as appropriate
• preparing clinical reports as appropriate relating to the assessment and treatment plans of service users. Develop knowledge base of clinical psychology and specific service user groups through reading, research or individual study
• attending and participate in Multi-disciplinary team and planning meetings

Qualifications & Registration required:

• Completed a Master’s Degree in an applied Psychology program
• Basic level experience with therapeutic modalities
• Familiar with appropriate psychological measures and assessments, expected at the degree level attained.
• Ability to draft correspondence and reports, and communicate effectively
• Possess a high degree of computer literacy (eg. MS Office Suites. AS400 knowledge an asset
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with all levels of staff, residents, clients and relatives
• Ability to form good working and professional relationships with colleagues
• Demonstrated potential to make sound judgment and assessments based on analysis and interpretation of clinical work or information
