The Opportunity

AHP’s next Billing and Customer Relationship Manager will join a close-knit team of mental health professionals committed to the liberation and healing of BIPOC communities and their non-BIPOC allies. You will join a heart-centered, visionary, and social justice minded collective. The role supports our commitment to healing as a thought leader for our billing and collections processes. This includes invoicing, managing client accounts, insurance billing, follow-ups, and ensuring timely payments for the healing services that our clinicians provide. This role is ideal for heart-centered individuals who views financial management as a form of sacred alignment, cultural respect, and communal accountability.

This position calls forth someone who is detail-oriented and values-driven, someone who holds both the numbers and the narratives of sacred work. Essential Job Functions

Leadership & Financial Integrity

  • Thought leadership and implementation of comprehensive billing practices.
  • Monitor client accounts to ensure payments are received and accurately posted.
  • Identify and address billing discrepancies and denials with a spirit of curiosity, problem-solving, and resolution orientation.
  • Practice-wide financial reporting and cash flow forecasting.
  • Serve as a liaison between the clinical team, clients, and insurance payers to clarify issues, trends, and corrections.

 

Billing & Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare and submit clean insurance claims daily.
  • Follow up on unpaid and rejected claims promptly and accurately.
  • Post payments, EOBs (Explanations of Benefits), and adjustments into our EHR system.
  • Generate client statements and respond to billing inquiries in a respectful, heart-felt yet firm client-centered manner.
  • Track and resolve aged accounts, identifying and resolving trends in delayed payments.
  • Coordinate monthly reconciliation, collaborate with management.
  • Basic bookkeeping and payroll duties.

 

Operational Support

  • Maintain credentialing records and support recredentialing timelines.
  • Communicate proactively with clients about payment plans and financial policies.
  • Support onboarding of new clinicians by setting up their billing profiles and ensuring clean data entry.
  • Participate in practice-wide team meetings and collaborative strategy sessions.

 

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have experience in a healthcare billing and collections in a healthcare setting, preferably in a mental health or integrative wellness practice. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field from a accredited institution is required. Competencies and Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare billing, insurance claims, and AR best practices.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and Excel.
  • Deep familiarity with commercial insurance payers and behavioral health billing codes.
  • High degree of accuracy and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and clinical information with the utmost integrity.
  • Comfort working in an African-centered, socially conscious, liberation-focused, womanist practice.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining compassion for yourself and others.
