Barbados Reference Laboratory, a full-service clinical laboratory, is seeking a dedicated and motivated Accessioning Clerk/Receptionist to join our growing team of medical professionals.
 

Position Summary

The Accessioning Clerk/Receptionist will play a critical role in ensuring efficient operations at our patient service center. This role involves greeting patients and visitors, specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in line with established standard operating procedures.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate presence of mind, excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

 

Essential Functions

Under general supervision and in accordance with BRL policies, procedures, and guidelines, the Accessioning Clerk/Receptionist will:

  • Register and accession samples into the laboratory information system accurately.
  • Ensure proper documentation and labeling of patient and sample information.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to BRL’s standards of professionalism.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as ordering supplies and clerical tasks.
  • Provide courteous and friendly service to all patients, contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Maintain a professional image in both appearance and communication.
  • Accept and process payments for services and balance daily cash reports, as applicable.
  • Adhere to safety, confidentiality, compliance, and legal requirements.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and data entry.
