To ensure the operational efficiency of plant, equipment and systems, the development and implementation of programs to enhance service delivery and for establishing measures to monitor and improve the effectiveness of the Region’s operations.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To establish and continually upgrade operational procedures to enhance the overall plant/system efficiency. 
  • To make scientific analysis of the plant/system performance and to make recommendations for improvement. 
  • To design, implement and monitor Preventative Maintenance Programs for plant/ equipment and facilities to improve availability and reliability. 
  • To establish procurement schedules to support rehabilitation/preventative maintenance programs. 
  • To perform Plant/Equipment/Systems failure analysis to determine corrective action needed to minimize or eliminate reoccurrence. 
  • To set up the appropriate and effective maintenance management systems for plant and equipment. 
  • To provide technical support to operational staff in the Region.
  • To take special responsibility for the development and implementation of productivity standards throughout the Region. 
  • To prepare and maintain detailed drawings of the current distribution network in accordance with accepted international standards. 
  • To develop and execute special/development projects geared to enhance plant/ system efficiency. 
  • To assess the development needs of the Region and prepare proposals/project documents for submission to Project Implementation & Partnership Building Department. 
  • To monitor contracts awarded for the installation of water meters. 
  • To assist in the preparation and monitoring of the routine and capital budget in the Region. 
  • To ensure the satisfactory achievement of specific performance targets set by Company’s Corporate Management Team for the Region. 
  • To assist in the evaluation of proposals from suppliers, contractors and consultants for the procurement of goods and services, in accordance with established procedures and the Authority’s norms. 
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities consistent with the purpose and level of the post. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical, Engineering or other approved Engineering discipline. 

AND 

  • A minimum of 3(three) years post qualification Experience in Engineering.

OR 

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering or Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering or Higher Technical Diploma (HTD) in Engineering or Diploma in Technology. 

AND 

  • A minimum of 7 (seven) years post qualification engineering experience (for HND/HNC/HTD).
  • A minimum of 10 (ten) years post qualification engineering experience (for a Diploma in Technology).
