The incumbent implements compensation and benefits programs, conducts union negotiations, oversees performance management, prepares budgets, and resolves employee relations issues.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for creating the environment for executing and implementing company’s evolving and development strategies. To plan, organize and coordinate HR activities of the company to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as recruitment, employees compensation, welfare employment relations, manpower planning employees’ grievance and performance Management,

 

KEY OUTPUTS:

  • Process improvement policies.
  • Signed revised collective agreements
  • Operationalise budgetary allocation of department
  • Compilation of statistics on exit interviews.
  • Compile minutes of negotiation meetings.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Implement and evaluate compensation policies/programs pay structures based upon internal equity and external market conditions.
  • In conjunction with Divisional Director, conduct formal Negotiations with recognized Unions in order to arrive at a consensus on Collective labour Agreements
  • Conduct benefits programs salary needs assessment survey.
  • Revise constantly, systems in the Department with a view of improving overall efficiency
  • Engage in the process improvement policies of the company.
  • Prepare the Departments’ budget and overall objectives in consultation with Unit Heads
  • Visit locations/departments with a view of meeting staff, understanding their problems and at the same time try to resolve same.
  • Carry out exit interview with departing staff and provide findings
  • Ensure staff contracts are up to date and advised on contract renewal and extension where necessary.
  • Assist with Implementation and monitoring of Performance Management System.
  • Arrange Management/Union meetings with the primary objective of resolving issues that fall outside of negotiations.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc. Degree in Management/Law/Sociology/Human Resources Management with seven (7) years relevant experience, at a Senior Management Level.

OR

  • Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management with ten (10) years relevant experience
