Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable IB Secondary Physics and Middle School Science Teacher to join our innovative and collaborative Science Department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related field
  • Valid teaching credential or certification
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably in an IB MYP or DP setting
  • Strong understanding of inquiry-based and conceptual teaching
  • Proficiency in integrating technology to enhance learning
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience teaching multiple grade levels preferred

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Teach Physics within the IB Diploma Programme and general Science in the Middle Years Programme.
  • Design engaging, inquiry-based lessons that foster scientific curiosity and problem-solving skills.
  • Guide students in developing a deep understanding of scientific principles through experimentation, collaboration, and reflection.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and provide timely feedback.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports all learners.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative methods, providing targeted feedback to enhance student performance. Prepare students for IB external assessments, ensuring their success in final exams.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Chair of the Science Department to develop and refine the Chemistry and Science curriculum. Design innovative units that integrate interdisciplinary themes and connect concepts to real-world contexts.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment. Implement effective classroom management strategies that align with school policies and the IB learner profile.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with colleagues across subject areas and grade levels to foster interdisciplinary connections. Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest teaching practices, particularly in IB MYP and DP Chemistry and Science instruction. Participate in school-based initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the academic program.
