The incumbent supervises Traffic Management Centre operations, oversees the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices, manages technical databases, and coordinates traffic management plans to ensure efficient road network operations.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation) would be an asset.
  • Professional training/certification in Traffic Signal Operations, Work Zone Management or related areas.
  • Less than three (3) years' working experience in a transportation organization.
  • Knowledge of construction and Government financial management procedures.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS/KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Sound knowledge of research methodologies, survey techniques and statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of traffic management techniques, including Intelligent Transport Systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant computer applications and systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and team-working skills.
  • Creativity, innovation and sound judgement.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to: Operations Manager

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Traffic Management Centre.
  • Collaborate with Signal technicians to ensure the maintenance and installation of traffic signs, traffic signals and road markings in accordance with Agency standards.
  • Ensure maintenance activities relating to traffic control devices are completed in a timely manner.
  • Update and maintain databases relating to traffic control devices.
  • Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of computerized traffic signal monitoring and control equipment within the Traffic Management Centre.
  • Supervise contractors engaged in the installation of new traffic infrastructure.
  • Prepare basic timing and phasing plans for preliminary signalization proposals.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of traffic management plans.
  • Prepare Traffic Status Reports as required.
  • Attend internal and public meetings to provide information on signal operations and other traffic control devices.
