The incumbent leads complex audits, supervises and mentors internal audit staff, manages the full audit lifecycle, and collaborates with the Chief Internal Auditor to develop audit plans, policies, and performance targets.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's Degree - preferably in Accounts, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent qualification/training; post graduate training; or A.C.C.A Level 3
  • A minimum of five (5) years progressive auditing experience.
  • Successful completion of the government auditing course or professional audit training would be an asset.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS/KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent knowledge of internal auditing standards and Government of Jamaica procedures.
  • Competence in risk-based auditing and sound knowledge of accounting and auditing principles.
  • Appropriate management skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Analytical thinker with good conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
  • Highly developed leadership skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and cooperation abilities.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to: Chief Internal Auditor (CIA)

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

  • Undertake projects of distinctively complex nature.
  • Exercise a high degree of judgment, based on wide experience and applied knowledge.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team members in the conduct of an audit.
  • Support the CIA in the development of the annual audit plan.
  • Manage and control audit assignments embracing planning, programming, conduct and control of audit work and reporting findings.
  • Formulate and review audit plans, developing audit policy, practices and general development of the audit function in collaboration with the CIA.
  • Lead and supervise an audit team embracing staff motivation and discipline.
  • General supervision, guidance and training for Internal Auditors.
  • Conduct performance appraisal for audit staff and assign annual targets.
  • Perform special assignments and investigations as required.
