Oxygen Plant Technician (SOG/ST 2) – Western Child And Adolescent Hospital

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor and manage cylinders’ safety, handling and operations 
• Refill high-pressure cylinders with medical-grade oxygen at the refilling station and assist in loading into vehicles for dispatch 
• Replace empty cylinders with filled ones in the manifold station 
• Disconnect, test, and inspect cylinders, verifying filling requirements 
• Perform post-fill processes 
• Store oxygen cylinders in appropriate section of room/warehouse 
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment 
• Prepare and submit an individual work plan and reports 
• Attend and participate in meetings, capacity-building sessions and workshops
• Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB:

• Will be required to work beyond normal working hours, on shift, weekends and public holidays, especially during emergencies or maintenance shutdowns. 
• Exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including noise, vibration, and varying temperatures. 
• Will be required to wear personal protective safety gear. 
• Work is primarily conducted within an industrial and administrative environment with exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment. 
• Fast-paced work environment requiring frequent interaction with critical stakeholders and adherence to tight deadlines. 
• May be required to travel across the Regional Health Authority to attend meetings, site visits, or training sessions 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum two (2) CXC subjects 
• Two (2) years experience in oxygen cylinder-related services in a hospital or oxygen production setting 

OR

• School Leaving Certificate or Diploma 
• Four (4) years of work experience in a similar capacity
