Description

We are looking for a creative, strategic and proactive Communications Consultant to support the communications management of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Haiti.

He/she will play a central role in the design, coordination, and implementation of the Bank's internal and external communications initiatives. He/she will contribute to strengthening the visibility of the Representation's activities and promoting its results. He/she will also ensure a dynamic, engaging digital presence that complies with IDB guidelines.

The consultant will also provide strategic and technical advice to the Representation on communications management, media relations and interaction with IsDB priority audiences, in a timely, efficient and agile manner, while ensuring alignment with the Bank's visual and institutional identity.

 

What you will do

Overall, the consultant will be responsible for carrying out the following activities:

  • Develop and implement the internal and external communication strategy, under the direction of the Representative and in coordination with the KIC Department.
  • Plan and coordinate communication plans related to projects, events and public initiatives involving the IDB or its partners.
  • Manage media relations: liaise with radio, television, newspapers and digital media for activities, interviews and official communications.
  • Identify and manage communication risks, in coordination with VPC, KIC and Representation, including crisis management and the development of strategic messages.
  • Create and manage content for the IDB's official social media channels, highlighting activities and projects in the country.
  • Map key stakeholders (opinion leaders, influencers, journalists, etc.) to strengthen the impact of communication actions.
  • Supervise external service providers (agencies, graphic designers, producers) and ensure visual consistency of the BID brand during events and publications.
  • Support sectors in the creation and dissemination of communication materials, including videos, press releases, posters and knowledge products.
  • Conduct project visits to produce content on field impacts, in collaboration with sector teams.

 

What you will need

  • Education:  Bachelor's degree in Communication, Public Relations, or ideally in Institutional Communication. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: The candidate must have at least five years of experience in a similar position, preferably within international organizations working in the field of development, and maintain excellent relations with the main media in the country. The candidate must perfectly manage digital platforms such as LinkedIn, X, Instagram, etc. to generate content every week on the activities of the IDB in Haiti.
  • Languages:  Fluency in English and one of the other official languages of the Bank (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

 

Conditions of employment

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Haiti or a citizen of one of our 48 member countries eligible to obtain a valid residence or work permit in Haiti without the need for IDB sponsorship.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab.
