The Vice President oversees the bank’s enterprise risk framework, advises leadership and the Board, and integrates risk management into all strategic, operational, and governance processes.

 

Position Overview:

The Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is responsible for providing executive leadership and oversight of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, encompassing Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance Risk, and Collections Management. The role ensures that risk management principles are fully integrated into strategic planning, operational execution, and governance processes.

The Vice President, ERM serves as a key advisor to the Board of Directors and the Managing Director, providing strategic guidance on risk exposure, mitigation, remediation, and risk appetite alignment. The incumbent leads the Bank’s risk functions to ensure effective identification, monitoring, control, and reporting of risks across all business units.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management framework for approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Lead the development and communication of enterprise-wide risk management policies, procedures, standards, and methodologies.
  •  Provide executive oversight of Credit Risk Management, ensuring adherence to the Bank’s approved risk appetite, Credit Policy Guide, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and make recommendations on credit applications and proposals to the Credit Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Oversee operational risk and control self-assessment processes across all departments, ensuring timely identification and mitigation of risks.
  • Analyze risk issues identified through audits, regulatory examinations, and internal reviews, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), escalating adverse trends and recommending corrective actions as needed.
  •  Provide leadership and oversight of investigations related to fraud, irregular practices, security matters, and staff defalcations.
  • Establish and manage the Bank’s Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery frameworks, including crisis management support.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, AML/ATF obligations, conduct risk standards, and corporate governance frameworks.
  •  Lead, coach, and develop senior risk management teams to strengthen enterprise-wide risk culture and capability.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Banking & Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in risk management within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in senior or executive leadership roles.
  • Professional Risk Manager (PRM) Certification will be an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise risk management, credit risk, operational risk, and regulatory compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance, banking practices, current and developing legislations.
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
