Job Overview:

The Warehouse Receiver is responsible for accurate and efficient receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming medical and surgical supplies. This role ensures that all products meet quality standards and are stored appropriately to maintain sterility and usability. The receiver plays a critical role in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting timely distribution, and ensuring the upkeep of the receiving area.

 

Essential Functions

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments of medical and surgical supplies.
  • Verify delivery contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Check items for damage, expiration dates, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Accurately received items logged into inventory management systems.
  • Prepare packages for delivery to all sites. Where necessary, assist with delivery.
  • Label and organize supplies according to storage protocols (e.g., sterile vs. non-sterile).
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the loading dock and receiving areas.
  • Preserve and file all receiving documentation, including delivery notes, inspection records, and discrepancy reports.
  • Communicate any discrepancies or damaged goods to procurement or quality assurance teams.
  • Assist with periodic inventory counts and audits.
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure timely stock rotation and order fulfillment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; logistics or healthcare-related training is a plus.
  • Experience in warehouse receiving, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and supply handling standards.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., Bahamas Ministry of Health, OSHA) is an asset.
