The North East Regional Health Authority is seeking a dynamic, proactive, experienced and analytical individual with strong team building skills to fill the position of Assistant Dietitian at the Port Antonio Hospital.

 

The ideal candidate will meet the following educational criteria:

  • Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics 
  • At least two (2) years working experience in Food Production and Service 
  • Supervisory Management Training & Certification 
  • Registration with the Council for the Professions Supplementary to Medicine 

 

Specific Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word 
  • Excellent team building and observational skills 
  • Knowledge of Clinical Nutrition Services. 
  • Knowledge of Food Service System Management 

 

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Maintain effective and efficient work flow within the Dietetics Department through consistent communication 
  • Delegate responsibilities to subordinates such as Head Cook, Cooks, Hospital Attendants
  • Providing staff with the necessary assistance and direction that will enable them to perform their duties effectively 
  • Liaise with the Public Health Department regarding food handlers’ permits 
  • Assist with the coordination of quarterly meetings with all food service workers.
  • Assist the Institutional Dietitian in determining the need for in-service training programmes
  • Coordinates the Food Service production in accordance with established procedures of the Dietetics Department, through and in conjunction with the Institutional Dietitian.
  • Inspects and tastes food for quality and quantity 
  • Check for plate waste on wards and liaise with the Institutional Dietitian
